Who‘s next? Unfortunately, the coronavirus currently has the trade fair landscape firmly under its control. Almost daily, we receive reports of new cancellations or postponements of a trade fair. After Embedded World could just about be held, even though a large number of large exhibitors had already cancelled their participation at short notice, Metav, Hannover Messe and Logimat, for example, have now had to be completely cancelled or postponed due to the virus. It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to get in touch with their customers, as the sales representatives are also finding it difficult to arrange appropriate appointments with their customers. Good that at least we are still around to keep you up to date with the latest news from image processing and measurement technology.

Kind regards
Dr.-Ing. Peter Ebert, Chief Editor inVISION

Autonomous Machine Vision as a Self-Experiment

Visual inspection in parts manufacturing is expensive, complicated and error-prone - this is the general consensus. Inspekto from Heilbronn has made it its business to change this and promises a Plug&Play system that delivers reliable results in the shortest time and with minimal installation effort. The inVISION has tested this in a self-experiment.

Incoming Orders in German Mechanical Engineering

At the beginning of the year, mechanical engineering in Germany made a surprisingly good start. In January, new orders rose by 7% in real terms year-on-year. However, according to VDMA chief economist Dr. Ralph Wiechers, this is not a sign of a sustained economic recovery. The increase was mainly due to a number of large orders that were booked in January. Furthermore, the effects of the 'corona crisis' are expected to be clearly reflected in the order figures.
