Smart Vision at the Edge The triumphal procession of smart cameras continues. This is due to the factors 'more processing power for less money' and an industry 4.0. Smart cameras are playing an increasingly important role in machine vision solutions at the edge, i.e. the cameras evaluate recorded images on board and deliver results to the cloud instead of extensive image data. On the one hand, this ensures that the classic communication channels are not clogged up with a multitude of image data, but also that machine vision is increasingly integrated into the IoT world. In addition, the first approaches are being made to integrate AI algorithms directly on smart cameras and thus to implement new evaluation approaches in the devices. New low-energy AI algorithms such as sparse modeling, which also require extremely few images to train, are ideal for these embedded systems.

Kind regards
