Pay-per-View The networking of today's production facilities may enable completely new payment systems for machine vision manufacturers and users in the near future. If the user previously had to buy his inspection system, he will soon be making pay-per-view, i.e. he will lease the entire inspection system and pay only a mini-cent amount to the operator of the vision system for each inspection carried out. With IOTA, a corresponding payment system is already in the making. This could also be a possibility to tackle the multitude of upcoming vision applications with the much too small number of vision experts.

Kind regards
Dr.-Ing. Peter Ebert, Chief Editor inVISION

uEye ACP: Individual cameras based on a modular principle

Wherever standard solutions for applications are not suitable, customised products are required. However, especially with small projects, development and cost expenditure are often disproportionately high. The new uEye ACP concept from IDS allows individual, economical camera variants to be produced from a minimum quantity of 1, thanks to a flexible modular principle. The board level camera models can be configured with just a few clicks using the online configurator.

Compact industrial cameras with 20 MP Sony sensor

When even the smallest details are important, high-resolution images with low noise levels are required. Both features characterize the 20 MP IMX183 sensor from Sony (5544 x 3694) in particular. Series production in the uEye CP camera family with USB3 vision interface will start in October. These cameras will then offer the highest resolution in the entire IDS portfolio. Thanks to BSI technology ("back-side-illumination"), they provide outstanding image quality even under poor lighting conditions.

AI Detects Facial Anomalies

The use of automated face recognition for personal identification continues to grow. But this authentication method is vulnerable to morphing attacks. A single passport featuring a photograph manipulated this way can then be used by two different people. Together with their partners, Fraunhofer research teams are developing a system that foils this type of attack using machine learning methods.
