Me and the Farmer Smart farming is one of the areas in which vision technologies is playing an increasingly important role. The market research institute Yole, for example, expects vision sales there to double to over USD 200 million by 2023. Autonomous driving or hyperspectral imaging to determine the condition of plants are just two of the many applications used in vehicles. Agricultural machines have pioneered autonomous driving because they are used in fields that are rather deserted. Rumour has it that car manufacturers initially liked to visit companies like John Deere in order to benefit from their wealth of experience. Ebert

3D camera with integrated data processing

The Ensenso XR is the first 3D camera family from IDS with direct data processing in the FPGA. It is just as modular as the X series and delivers 3D data directly from the camera. The transmission of result data instead of raw data places considerably less strain on the network, which benefits multi-camera systems and other computing-intensive applications in particular. The new XR30 and XR36 models feature IP65/67 protection and 1.6 MP Sony sensors.
