On 21st March 2020 David Hearn passed away. He was a pioneer of the vision business in the UK. His first involvement with vision was working for Data Translation selling PC based data acquisition and imaging processing hardware and software. He then became the director at the Optimas Corporation and later set up Vortex Vision in 1997 – a company that Wilhelm Stemmer took a stake in. In 2001, David and Mark Williamson combined their businesses and formed Firstsight Vision, the first company to join Stemmer Imaging in 2004.
